Always Speaking Mixed Media on 8×10 Canvas Panel

A vibrant cardinal perched among spring branches, Always Speaking is a reminder that beauty, hope, and quiet messages surround us if we slow down enough to notice.

While painting this piece, I reflected on the many ways God has spoken to me through birds throughout my life—moments of comfort, surprise, and gentle presence during both joyful and difficult seasons.

Layered into the painting is a special piece of history: sheet music from 1933 that belonged to my late husband Brian’s grandmother. Nearly a century later, those notes live on inside this artwork, carrying a quiet thread of family legacy forward.

The bright red cardinal—so often noticed against winter snow—is present all year long. Sometimes we simply need to pause long enough to see what has been there all along.

This original mixed media painting is part of my Sprint into Spring daily painting series and is currently my personal favorite of the collection so far.
